We Solve Mental Health Disparities in Communities of Color
The Confess Project has the first and largest organization committed to building a culture of mental health for Black boys, men, and their families. How? We focus on empowering frontline heroes and sheroes in Communities across America. More specifically, we train barbers to be mental health advocates.
Our Impact
"We are a leading voice in Mental Health Advocacy for Black boys, men, and their families." The Confess Project Atlanta has trained hundreds of barbers and beauty industry professionals in Atlanta, GA.
Our Coalitions
OUR MISSION: The Confess Project of Metro Atlanta is a statewide organization that fosters mental health advocacy in the Black Barber and Beauty Industry by building awareness, breaking stigma, and increasing access to care within the communities they serve.
We Save Lives
With 1 in 5 people in the U.S affected by mental illness, there’s never been a more urgent moment for mental health advocacy. TCP’s programming specifically focuses on communities of color who have far too long borne the brunt and weight of trauma, alone.
Our team brings over 40 years collective experience in fields ranging from social work to behavioral health to therapy to develop programs for those who have the greatest stake in the issue. Hoping to reach as many advocates as possible, we see our programs as part of a wider movement to solve mental health disparities in communities of color—now, and for generations to come.

“Barbers will be transformed”
The Confess Project encourages cultural dialogue of African American males and speaking about emotional health. Our projects serve as the bridge for mental health disparities with marginalized males that will come in contact with/or seek treatment of any emotional related social issues. In addition, we train Barbers to become Mental Health Advocates.
African-American men experience disproportionately higher rates of unemployment, poverty, incarceration and chronic illness than their white counterparts. We understand that cultivating a culture of mental health for Black boys and men requires equipping our brothers with the information, tools, and steps to combat the systemic racism they face.
Black men with knowledge about mental health, financial literacy, home ownership, fatherhood, and other subjects pertinent to Black excellence. These programs are designed to enhance the life trajectory and prolong the life expectancy of our brothers by promoting health and wellness.
Vision: “I am more than a pair of clippers; I am improving my community through the barber chair one client at A Time”
